About

Lara MacInnis is a Toronto-based designer with two decades of experience creating refined residential spaces. With a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto and a background in feature film set design, her work centres on how a home feels - its light, atmosphere, and balance.

Lara also trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, and holds a degree in English Literature from McGill University. This interdisciplinary foundation informs her work, grounding each project in context and narrative with a focus on spaces that unfold naturally over time.

Our Approach

Since establishing her practice in 2012, Lara and her team have worked closely with clients on private homes and cottages, guiding projects from early ideas through construction and completion. The studio’s work embraces the realities of daily life - children, pets, budgets, and evolving priorities - without compromising clarity of vision. Collaboration is central, with each project shaped through careful dialogue to arrive at a deeply personal result.

Known for a measured and attentive approach, clients are led through a clearly structured process that considers both the overall composition and every detail. The result is homes that feel composed, welcoming, and enduring - spaces grounded in architecture, enriched by personal culture and designed to be lived in.
